• Man shoots officer, then himself in Edworthy Park
    On 10.08.2026, a man shot a Calgary police officer in Edworthy Park, then fled and shot himself. The incident began when officers attempted a traffic stop on his truck in the parking lot. The man fled into a nearby dog park, firing several rounds at the officers, injuring one. Police returned fire and deployed a HAWCS helicopter to track him. The man shot at the helicopter while fleeing, then carjacked a work truck at gunpoint and drove onto railroad tracks. When the truck got stuck, he ran into the Bow River and shot himself. Police found him dead minutes later. A handgun was recovered from the river the next day. The investigation is ongoing.

    On Aug. 24, 2026 at approximately 6 a.m., police were called to the 4000 block of Edmonton Tr. N.E. in Calgary, a block from the first incident, following reports of suspicious activity. Witnesses said the site had been repeatedly accessed by suspects. Upon arrival, officers found one suspect sleeping inside a vehicle. Officers then opened the manhole cover and located a second suspect inside the manhole. Police seized multiple tools and supplies, as well as approximately 25 feet of cut telecommunications cable. At the scene, police found 23.4 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 11.7 grams of suspected fentanyl, and electronic and hand tools. Aurora Felicity Burr, 29, of Calgary, a suspect in the first incident, is charged with mischief over $5,000, possession of break-in instruments, two counts of failing to comply with a release order, possession of fentanyl and possession of methamphetamine. Eric Carol Dube, 50, of Calgary, is charged with theft over $5,000, mischief causing damage over $5,000, two counts of failure to comply with a release order, taking a motor vehicle without the owner's consent, possession of break-in instruments and driving without an operator's licence.
