  • Two protesters arrested for anti-Islam signs
On 16 May 2026, two protesters were arrested in London for holding signs reading "f--- Islam" at a Unite the Kingdom march organised by Tommy Robinson. They are being investigated for breaches of the Public Order Act 1986, with potential religious aggravation. The Free Speech Union and Big Brother Watch have backed the pair, arguing that criticising a religion is not a criminal offence and that the arrests amount to a revival of blasphemy laws. They have sent a legal letter to the Crown Prosecution Service and the Metropolitan Police urging them to drop the case. The investigation is ongoing.

Natasha was found unresponsive and cold, and was pronounced dead at the scene. She had suffered fatal head trauma and more than 50 injuries. Clifford was observed by paramedics attempting to wash his clothes while they treated Natasha. Investigation revealed that Clifford, 33, had previously attacked Natasha at least twice and had groomed her; a Child Abduction Warning Notice had been issued against him and Natasha had been assessed as high risk. He was arrested and later convicted of murder, receiving an 18-year prison sentence in August 2019. • Double murderer Simon Levy sentenced to whole-life term
Levy suffocated both women in sexually motivated attacks. Valencia-Trujillo was found in a largely abandoned block of flats on the Aylesbury estate in south-east London in March 2025; Wilkins was found behind a car park wall near Tottenham High Road, north London, in August 2025. Levy had previously subjected a third woman to a brutal rape in the same car park where Wilkins' body was later found; the survivor had told police where her attacker lived but was not formally interviewed until after Levy had killed twice. Levy, who was on bail, had also sexually assaulted a prison staff member and was released by the prison service. The Metropolitan Police, British Transport Police and Crown Prosecution Service have admitted failings in the handling of the case. The IOPC has served a gross misconduct notice on a Met Police constable and a misconduct notice on a detective sergeant. Detectives have exhausted numerous lines of inquiry and found no evidence linking Levy to any further unsolved incidents.
