The guard was taken to hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable. An off-duty officer spotted the 29-year-old suspect near Portage Avenue and Sharp Boulevard just before 10:00 AM on 26.08.2026. On-duty members arrested him a few blocks away on Portage and Strathmillan Road. The man is charged with aggravated assault, robbery, and failing to comply with a probation order.

    On 23.08.2026 at approximately 00:00, RCMP officers responded to a report of a possible assault inside a home on Dufferin Avenue in Selkirk, Manitoba. Upon arrival, they found a number of people inside and outside the home, including a 21-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency medical services attended, but the man was pronounced dead. RCMP major crime services determined the death was a homicide through an initial investigation. Justin Linklater, a 30-year-old man from Selkirk, was arrested at the scene and charged with second-degree murder. Linklater remains in custody, and the investigation into the death is continuing.

Er wurde 2024 zweimal festgenommen, zuerst am 22.02.2024 in der ländlichen Gemeinde Macdonald, wo er mit mehreren Passagieren in einem Fahrzeug gestoppt wurde und behauptete, Uber-Fahrer zu sein. Später am selben Tag wurde er in Winnipeg erneut verhaftet, wobei 2.300 US-Dollar und acht ausländische Staatsangehörige gefunden wurden. Am 01.12.2024 wurde er erneut festgenommen, nachdem RCMP ihn mit einem Mietwagen mit Alberta-Kennzeichen und einem passwortgeschützten Handy aufgriff; fünf ausländische Staatsangehörige flohen, wurden aber mit Infrarotkameras gefunden.
