• Former Mountie sentenced for breach of trust
On 27.08.2026, B.C. Supreme Court Justice Murray Blok sentenced former Surrey RCMP officer Dawwd Soukary, 31, to 18 months in jail for breach of trust. Soukary had pleaded guilty in April. Between October 28, 2020, and January 27, 2021, he provided confidential police intelligence to criminal associates, identified only as MN and AH. The RCMP's anti-corruption unit ran an undercover operation, arresting Soukary on January 27 during a sham cocaine deal. His phone revealed he had sent internal bulletins and database screenshots, including information about a drive-by shooting suspect and a person to rob of $40,000. The judge noted no evidence that the shared information compromised investigations or led to further crimes. Soukary resigned from the RCMP and now works at an Ottawa gym.
