The victim, identified as Elisabeth-Jane Ross from Scotland, had arrived in Greece on 26 June and stayed at a friend's home in the Piraeus area until 10 July. Investigators recovered usable fingerprints from the body despite advanced decomposition; US authorities confirmed they belonged to the British national. The suspect confessed to placing the victim's body in a suitcase and transporting it to the abandoned site, and he later used her bank cards to withdraw cash. A search of his home produced a replica pistol and a knife, leading to charges of homicide, robbery and weapons offences. Am 21.07.2026 gegen 08:00 Uhr Ortszeit bedrohte ein Mann nahe dem Eingang zur Akropolis in Athen mehrere Passanten mit einem Messer und griff anschließend ein Touristenpaar aus den USA an. Der Mann erlitt eine schwere Beinverletzung, die Frau wurde am Arm verletzt. Ein Rettungswagen brachte beide in ein Krankenhaus.
