On 23.08.2026 at approximately 00:00, RCMP officers responded to a report of a possible assault inside a home on Dufferin Avenue in Selkirk, Manitoba. Upon arrival, they found a number of people inside and outside the home, including a 21-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency medical services attended, but the man was pronounced dead. RCMP major crime services determined the death was a homicide through an initial investigation. Justin Linklater, a 30-year-old man from Selkirk, was arrested at the scene and charged with second-degree murder.
