  • Reform MSP reports Aamer Anwar to police over hate speech
Reform UK's deputy leader in Scotland, Thomas Kerr, has reported human rights lawyer Aamer Anwar to Police Scotland over hate speech claims. Kerr alleges that Anwar's speech during a counter-protest to anti-immigration demonstrations in Glasgow on 27 July 2026 described political campaigners as terrorists and questioned their culture and religion. Anwar rejects the claims, calling Kerr a 'wannabe tartan Tommy Robinson' and accusing him of wasting police time. Police Scotland confirmed they have received the information and it is being assessed. The protests involved approximately 1,700 people, with violence, disorder, and hate-motivated offences, leading to 15 arrests. Kerr believes Anwar's remarks will increase hostility and community tensions. Anwar defended his speech, stating he was condemning racist thugs and comparing the incident to a knife attack in Edinburgh. #Terrorismus
