Am 29.08.2026 gegen 00:30 Uhr wurden die Beamten der Polizei Edinburgh zu einer Ruhestörung in der Springwell Place in der Nähe der Dalry Road gerufen. Fünf Polizeifahrzeuge waren vor Ort. On 26.08.2026 at approximately 13:30, a man was arrested by police in the Grassmarket area of Edinburgh. The incident was captured on video by comedian Gill Cordiner. The footage shows a young man with red hair in an altercation with police, during which he attached himself to a railing. Two women from a nearby seating area intervened, with one kicking his knees out and the other pinning him down with her knee, allowing police to handcuff him. The man was subsequently led away. The circumstances leading up to the incident are not yet known. A witness leaving Waverley Station placed himself between Hutchison and the victim, but Hutchison continued, shouting 'she's an immigrant, she shouldn't be here' and 'I should be the one getting the help she is getting', saying he had been sleeping rough for six months. He also shouted at a passerby wearing a hijab. Police traced and charged him; he replied 'Aye, I was, aye.' While in a police vehicle he shouted 'immigrants aren't welcome here' and punched the cage, and when cautioned he replied 'f*** off'. He held her against her will, struggled with her and touched her before raping her. The victim escaped and contacted friends, who found her in distress. CCTV footage from Queens Bay Crescent showed Nabizada returning to the scene several times. The judge described the attack as a 'crime of opportunism' and noted the victim's vulnerability due to intoxication. Nabizada was placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely and ordered not to contact the victim.
