  • Man pleads guilty to racist abuse of woman begging
He shouted 'immigrants aren't welcome here', 'g*****' and 'Scotland isn't for her, she should go home'. A witness leaving Waverley Station placed himself between Hutchison and the victim, but Hutchison continued, shouting 'she's an immigrant, she shouldn't be here' and 'I should be the one getting the help she is getting', saying he had been sleeping rough for six months. He also shouted at a passerby wearing a hijab. Police traced and charged him; he replied 'Aye, I was, aye.' While in a police vehicle he shouted 'immigrants aren't welcome here' and punched the cage, and when cautioned he replied 'f*** off'. Sentencing was deferred for a justice social work report and a restriction of liberty order assessment.

  • Ex-Army translator jailed for raping teenager
The offence occurred in November 2021. After a night out, Nabizada failed to take the victim home, instead seizing her mobile phone and driving her to a secluded area of Joppa near Edinburgh. He held her against her will, struggled with her and touched her before raping her. The victim escaped and contacted friends, who found her in distress. CCTV footage from Queens Bay Crescent showed Nabizada returning to the scene several times. The judge described the attack as a 'crime of opportunism' and noted the victim's vulnerability due to intoxication. Nabizada was placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely and ordered not to contact the victim. He maintains his innocence; his lawyer stated he had applied for British citizenship and holds indefinite leave to remain.

  • Murrell jailed for £400k embezzlement from SNP
Sturgeon said she has stopped speaking to him and will not visit him in prison, and that he lied to her until the day he pleaded guilty. She only learned of the guilty plea one week before his court appearance, although he had been negotiating the plea for months. Sturgeon stated the news hit her 'like a tonne of bricks' and that she now feels like a 'mug' for having worried about his wellbeing and mental health while he was isolated. Murrell, 61, used the funds between 2010 and 2022 to buy a motorhome, a Jaguar SUV, a VW Golf, boutique cosmetics, iPads and Lalique Feuilles salt and pepper grinders worth £2,618. Sturgeon, 55, has consistently denied knowledge of the crimes, was not charged after a police investigation, and refused to apologise for his offences. She previously admitted an error of judgment in keeping him as SNP chief executive when she became party leader in 11/2014.
