After a night out, Nabizada failed to take the victim home, instead seizing her mobile phone and driving her to a secluded area of Joppa near Edinburgh. He held her against her will, struggled with her and touched her before raping her. The victim escaped and contacted friends, who found her in distress. CCTV footage from Queens Bay Crescent showed Nabizada returning to the scene several times. The judge described the attack as a 'crime of opportunism' and noted the victim's vulnerability due to intoxication. Nabizada was placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely and ordered not to contact the victim. He maintains his innocence; his lawyer stated he had applied for British citizenship and holds indefinite leave to remain. The offence occurred in November 2021.
