    Am 04.09.2026 gegen 06:00 Uhr wurde eine 82-jährige Frau an der Kreuzung Bridletowne Circle und Finch Avenue E. in Scarborough von einem weißen Toyota RAV4 erfasst und überrollt. Die 49-jährige Fahrerin war auf dem südlichen Bridletowne Circle in Richtung Westen auf die Finch Avenue E. abgebogen. Die Fußgängerin überquerte die Straße von der nordwestlichen Ecke der Kreuzung. Sie wurde mit lebensbedrohlichen Verletzungen ins Krankenhaus gebracht, erlag aber am Abend des 04.09.2026 ihren Verletzungen. Die Fahrerin und das Fahrzeug blieben an der Unfallstelle. Es besteht kein Verdacht auf Alkohol- oder Drogeneinfluss. Ob Geschwindigkeit eine Rolle spielte, ist noch unklar. #Drogen

In the first case, he allegedly trafficked a 32-year-old woman through deception, coercion, and control, forcing her to take sexualized pictures that were distributed online; the money she earned was surrendered to him. In a second case, he allegedly committed similar acts against another 32-year-old woman, leading to charges on 30/07/2026 for procuring, trafficking by recruiting, advertising sexual services, living on avails of prostitution, material benefit from sexual services, assault with a weapon, and two counts of assault. In a third case, he allegedly used coercion and control to recruit a 31-year-old woman into the sex trade and sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions. Benjamin was previously known as Eric Smart and also uses the aliases Jay and Jason. The investigation is ongoing.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect, a man going by the name 'Jay', has been partially identified. He is described as left-handed and as having a specific gait, and may have had access to a black four-door SUV in 2023. Investigators believe Jay may still be in the city.

Police allege that the accused went to a storage locker on the morning of the rally to retrieve antisemitic signs, displayed them publicly at the demonstration, and marched toward a group of pro-Israeli supporters while shouting derogatory slurs. Five others aged 19 to 48 were arrested in June, and a 33-year-old Toronto man was arrested in April in connection with the incident. Both protesters and counter-protesters were present at the demonstration.

Officers suspected the man required medical attention and attempted to take him into custody. At that point, he regained consciousness and attempted to start the vehicle and drive away, but was prevented by the police vehicles. The man was taken into custody. An unloaded firearm, ammunition, and three knives were seized. The man remains in custody pending charges.

He was released into the care of his sister under strict conditions, including electronic monitoring, surrendering his travel documents, remaining at home except for church, medical appointments or emergencies, reporting weekly by telephone to police, and not possessing any firearms. The evidence from the bail hearing and the judge's reasons are subject to a publication ban. Carr, a 36-year-old teacher at Montague Regional High School, was allegedly strangled with a towel in his home in the early morning hours of 11/11/1988; his body was later found with multiple stab wounds. Irving was arrested in January 2024 and charged with first-degree murder and interfering with human remains, and he has been in custody since his arrest. He has pleaded not guilty and elected for his case to be heard before a judge and jury in the Supreme Court of P.E.I., with the trial scheduled to begin on 24/11.

Police have determined that both businesses are Jewish-owned and are investigating these as suspected hate-motivated crimes. The hate crime unit is investigating both incidents, with the guns and gangs unit assisting in the first. No injuries were reported. Investigators are examining whether the incidents are connected and are working to identify those responsible.
