Bradley Tepper, 53, a 20-year veteran of the Calgary Police Service, pleaded guilty before Justice Kristin Fahlman to theft over $5,000. Between July 2024 and August 2025, Tepper committed so-called "double walk-out thefts" at five different Home Depot stores in Calgary and surrounding areas. The scheme involved legally buying a tool, storing it in his car, and immediately returning to steal a second identical tool within minutes; if stopped by a sales associate, he would show the receipt from the legal purchase. He would later return the first tool, often at a different Home Depot store, keeping the second one. The investigation began in August 2025 following a complaint about fraudulent activity and multiple thefts from hardware stores in and around the city. A pre-sentence report has been ordered ahead of a sentencing hearing expected later this year. Tepper is currently suspended without pay.
