On 24.04.2022, Carson Peters-Berger, then 14, persuaded his 10-year-old cousin Iliana "Lily" Peters to leave a trail and explore the woods in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. He then beat, strangled, and sexually assaulted her, resulting in her death. Peters-Berger, now 18, pleaded guilty to murder on 26.08.2026 and was sentenced to life in prison. Two additional charges were dismissed as part of a plea agreement. The judge rejected attempts to move the case to juvenile court.
