The girl, identified as Minnie Merriman from West Yorkshire, was taken by paramedics along with three other people to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, where she succumbed to her injuries. Her father, Christopher Rice, 35, of Wakefield, West Yorkshire, was charged with her murder and appeared at Forfar sheriff court in Angus on 05.08.2026, where he did not enter a plea and was remanded in custody. He is due to appear in court again within eight days. Witnesses had seen the family cooking food on a portable stove earlier in the evening.
