A 28-year-old man, Joshua Kerry, has been charged with the murder of Ann Widdecombe. The former Tory minister was found dead at her home in Haytor, Dartmoor, Devon, on July 9 at around 11:40am after sustaining serious injuries. Police believe she was killed approximately 24 hours earlier. Kerry was arrested at his home in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, on July 11. A red Vauxhall Corsa believed to belong to the suspect was seized. The CPS has authorised the charge, and police inquiries into a potential political or terrorist motive are ongoing. Kerry is due to appear before Westminster magistrates' court on July 21.
