On 18 July 2026, the body of 38-year-old Scottish woman Elisabeth-Jane Ross was discovered by a homeless man inside a suitcase in a derelict building in the Kypseli area of Athens, Greece. She is believed to have died between five and seven days before her remains were found. According to Greek police, messages were sent from her phone after her death in an apparent attempt to mislead investigators. Ms Ross had travelled to Greece and initially stayed with friends in Keratsini before meeting American friends in Kypseli on 15 July. Her body lacked identification, and she was identified through fingerprint data via Interpol. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working with the Foreign Office and Police Scotland.
